Let me start by saying I am not a person who would normally be stitching a mermaid. I don't have anything against them, it's just not one of my norms. But I was at Picture This Plus one day and wandered into the back room to chat with Marilyn. I looked down and saw this beautiful project. The fabric was gorgeous and I surprised myself when I fell in love with the mermaid stitched there. I had to recreate it! There was only one snag. The pieces of Splash didn't look like the project I had seen. Then, the loveliest thing happened. Marilyn said she could dye the fabric to come out pretty close to the project in the shop. It just made my day! I haven't had this in my stash very long. I didn't start it because I don't want it to be another WIP that will get set aside in favor of something else or because I'd feel guilty for working on it when I already have so many other projects to work on. I am hoping to get several projects finished this year so I can get this one started. It will be gorgeous!
Here's to finishing some so I can start one more.
Laura :)
That is a fantastic story! I tend not to stitch mermaids either for some reason. I gravitate towards dragons more I suppose and different environments generally.
ReplyDeleteI tend to not do much, if any Fantasy stitching. I was just drawn to this for some reason.
